This morning, the classrooms were filled with friendly competition as high school advisories put their creative engineering skills to the test by building and then playing on their own miniature golf courses. Teams had 15 minutes to build a course using only materials found in their advisory classroom!

Eighth-grade students went to the Norman Rockwell Museum to engage with Anita Kunz's "Original Sisters" exhibit. As part of their English Language Arts curriculum, students composed structured paragraphs analyzing one of the remarkable women featured in Kunz's illustrated portrait series. This experience provided valuable insights into how these pioneering women overcame challenges and revolutionized their respective fields, equipping students with crucial knowledge for their upcoming Civics project this spring.

Berkshire Botanical Garden spent the last 6 weeks teaching UME & NMC students through their Farm & Garden program funded by the Eagle Fund. Students gained hands-on gardening experience using the garden beds located behind the school. They worked together to compost & plant a few garden beds full of garlic and onions for spring & summer harvests. Students also learned why composting was so important through “Dressing A Worm”. Arielle Coon, Schools Programs Manager for Berkshire Botanical Gardens, chatted with students about what yummy fruits & vegetables they will be able to grow to provide the school's cafeteria. A favorite class activity was when students made their own butter while tasting herbs they could add. The help of the Eagle Fund Grant has funded the Farm & Garden Program.
