This week, through our partnership in the Jewish Federation of the Berkshire's "Hate Has No Home Here" campaign, Mt. Everett was the fourth school in Massachusetts to host the Mobile Museum of Tolerance. Students in grades 7-12 participated in workshops including "Combat Hate: Digital Media Literacy", "Civil Rights", "The Power of Ordinary People", and "The Anne Frank Story".

The SES spent a magical morning in the woods with Flying Deer! We tracked rabbits, deer, mice, and birds through the brush before warming our hands by a crackling fire. To top off the adventure, we enjoyed the ultimate winter treat: delicious warm maple syrup drizzled over fresh snow.

Last week, NMC PreK dove into dental health and nutrition with a special visit from Nurse Lisa. Using a giant toothbrush and model teeth—which the kids found hilarious—she taught the class the proper way to brush, floss, and choose nutritious foods. The learning continued with interactive tabletop games, where students rolled dice to count "teeth" using white cubes and practiced number recognition by coloring and "brushing" teeth clean. They also sharpened their math skills with ten-frames and learned to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food choices. Keep your smile bright!

Last week, our elementary families joined together for the PTO-sponsored Glow Dance! It was incredible to see everyone come together for such a glowing cause— proceeds from the night will benefit the 5th-grade field trip to Nature’s Classroom.

A huge shout-out to our amazing parent volunteers who spent the evening transforming faces with neon paint and to everyone who donated the delicious food that kept our dancers moving. Special shout out to the teachers who made the night happen. Great job, DJ Huckleberry Spin and MC Murray on the Mic

Students in Mr. Von Ruden’s Intro to Woodworking class are officially "hooked" on the basics. They’re mastering the art of hand tools to carve out these realistic trout projects. It’s amazing to see these shapes start to emerge from the wood!

A powerful day of art and history at Mount Everett. Students experienced "Third Generation: A Survivor’s Story," a dance piece by Shany Dagan that explores the "echoes" of Holocaust survival and the resilience passed down through generations. The performance concluded with a thoughtful Q&A, allowing students to connect directly with Shany and the performers about the creative process and the history behind the movement.

Kindergarteners had a wonderful time making crepes with guest parents Marjorie Borreda and Mitch Moulton from Le Petit Ranch! Together, students read the recipe, took turns measuring ingredients, and practiced their stirring skills. This hands-on lesson strengthened early literacy and math skills while fostering teamwork and patience. Beyond the cooking, students explored how crepes bring French families together, expanding their cultural horizons one delicious bite at a time!

We are so proud of our Mt. Everett Middle School students for their participation in the Changemakers for Good student leadership program. This incredible initiative empowers our young leaders to identify community needs, build empathy, and take real action to create positive change.

Seeing our students step up to lead with heart and purpose is what being an Eagle is all about! We can’t wait to see the "good" they bring to our school and community.

The South Egremont School made large Valentines on cardboard for their families using paint, chalk, cloth and all kinds of interesting collage materials! They wrote love poems inspired by the poetry in “Hailstones and Halibut Bones.”

A small sampling:

Love smells like roses.
Love tastes like peaches.
Love feels like my mom and dad hugging me.
Love looks like Valentine’s Day!

Love smells like the birds flying south for the winter.
Love tastes like apples.
Love feels like a hug from my mom and my dad and my baby.
Love looks like my art that I make.

Love smells like my house.
Love tastes like warm apples.
Love feels like my sweater.
Love looks like my family!

Kindergarten students enjoyed a sweet visit from Le Petit Ranch in Sheffield. Marjorie Borreda brought her gentle guinea pigs to help us explore kindness, friendship, and respect. Students observed how animals show care, practiced respectful interaction, and wrote kind Valentine notes to our furry friends: building empathy, early writing skills, and lots of smiles along the way!
