Spirit week at Mount Everett - twin day

Kindergarten students at UME have been busy creating festive holiday gift boxes to celebrate the upcoming holidays and the winter solstice. Their colorful, sticker- and bow-covered designs are now brightening our hallway display cases!
This hands-on project helped students strengthen fine motor skills, express creativity, and share conversations about family traditions. As they worked, they practiced listening, taking turns, and learning about the many ways families celebrate this season.

The Mt. Everett robotics team competed with energy and determination today at a VEX tournament held in Monroe, Connecticut, at Masuk High School. Throughout the day, the team showcased their engineering skills, teamwork, and problem-solving under pressure, adapting their robot strategy and communicating effectively during matches in the VEX Robotics Competition. Their strong sportsmanship and perseverance made the event a valuable and motivating experience for the entire team.

This afternoon, motivational speaker Ilze Luneau dazzled Mount Everett Middle School students with her basketball tricks and simultaneously delivered an inspiring message about the importance of hard work and perseverance.

This week, Kindergarten students focused on creating their very own winter trees! As a class, we explored the differences between evergreen and deciduous trees and discussed the kinds of weather we typically experience during Massachusetts winters. Students used a variety of materials—markers, crayons, chalk, and paint—to add texture, color, and detail to their artwork. Their beautiful winter trees are now displayed proudly on our hallway bulletin board, bringing a touch of seasonal cheer to our school!

Students in fourth grade science construct robotic hand models after learning about how muscles control bones in the human body.
🎶 Bravo! Congratulations to our incredible high school choir and band students on a truly successful Winter Concert last night! ❄️

NMC Pre-K has been having a colorful time learning about primary and secondary colors! We made our own discoveries through hands-on activities like mixing clays, painting, and sculpting. Our exciting "Walking Water" science experiment gave us a visual demonstration of how the primary colors blend to create secondary colors. We also enjoyed reading and comparing three color-themed books: Mouse Paint, Rabbit's Colorful Day, and I Love Colors!

🎶 The Mount Everett Middle School musicians delivered an absolutely fantastic winter concert last night! Don't miss the chance to see the talent continue: Catch the high school choir and band performing tonight at 7pm!

Mrs. Salinetti’s grade five students dissected owl pellets to learn about how energy travels through an ecosystem!
Are these seniors working hard or hardly working? Spot the clues and decide for yourself!
All jokes aside, we can definitely spot the clues that they are working incredibly hard. We are deeply proud of our seniors who are balancing their current studies with the intense demands of planning their next stages of education and career. With college application deadlines fast approaching, their dedication is truly commendable.

That's a wrap! Huge gratitude to everyone who stayed behind to help tidy up after a wonderful senior luncheon. Your willingness to help is truly appreciated!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the annual senior citizen luncheon such a wonderful success!

Under the direction of Ms. Connie Gott, the Mount Everett culinary students prepared and served a feast for our guests.

Final preparations are complete; we are ready to begin. We are honored to welcome the seniors from our community to the school.

Marjorie Borreda of Le Petit Ranch in Sheffield visited the UME Kindergarten classes to host a Mini Vet Clinic! Students learned about the different types of veterinarians, how to recognize when a dog isn’t feeling well, how to apply bandages, and much more. Our Kindergarteners were highly engaged and eager to practice their new veterinary skills. Many thanks to Marjorie and to sponsor, Bilmar Vet Services, for making this wonderful learning experience possible at our school.

Students in Ms. Dillon’s fourth grade science class design, build and test space craft landers following their study of force, motion and gravity.
Our robotics students are taking on a huge challenge: marine trash. They're currently testing a new aquatic robot prototype designed to potentially collect debris from the sea.
