On Saturday, the Mount Everett FFA will be hosting a petting zoo in their barn (located by the varsity soccer field and track) from 10:30am until 12:30pm. There will be animals, arts & crafts, and other fun activities! In the event of rain, the petting zoo will take place the following Saturday.

Mt. Everett students are competing Friday in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. In this series of online competitions, high school teams are given a set of virtual operating systems and are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services. The top teams in the nation earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Maryland for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money. As of 10 am, Mt. Everett is ranked 12th out of 535 teams competing nationwide and number 1 in Massachusetts.

Mr. Master's class studied the local history of New Marlborough and its many mills (paper, grist and lumber). They then completed a Water Wheel Challenge! Mr. Masters gave the students a budget of $1,000 dollars allowing them to "purchase" the items needed to make a working model of a water wheel. Here they are testing out their designs!

Yesterday marks the beginning of our annual elementary Berkshire STEM Week). For some STEM fun at home, elementary students can participate in the “My School’s Toothjelly Foundation” challenge! All students have to do is create a model elementary school building out of jelly beans or mini-marshmallows and toothpicks at home and send a pic to mfenn@sbrsd.org. Each entry sent by Thursday afternoon will then be added to a lottery to become Assistant Principal for the day on Friday, Oct 22nd.
