What is Innovation Pathways?

Innovation Career Pathways offers opportunities for students to explore cutting-edge technology and in-demand fields.

The program emphasizes real-world skills through career-focused experiential learning. Participants connect with industry mentors, go on field trips, get set up with internships in their areas of interest, and more.

Mount Everett currently offers two technical pathways: Advanced Manufacturing and Information Technology.

Innovation Pathway courses involve project-based activities where students get hands-on practice with tools, equipment, and devices. The curriculum is centered around problem-solving and the engineering design process.

Students will learn how to incorporate basic Artificial Intelligence algorithms in their own work, and consider the social and ethical implications of how Artificial Intelligence is used, and how it plans to be used. Students will develop a series of projects in Python that illustrate the variety of ways Artificial Intelligence can be used to optimize and predict information and processes.

Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity:

Students earn a digital badge for successfully completing this pathway to verify their knowledge. Then they can take the CCST Cybersecurity certification exam to earn an industry-recognized certification.

Coursework:

Cybersecurity I: Introduction to Cybersecurity
This introductory course takes you inside the world of cybersecurity. You will learn cybersecurity basics to protect your personal digital life and gain insights into the biggest security challenges companies, governments, and educational institutions face today. Cybersecurity professionals who can protect and defend an organization’s network are in high demand. Students will participate in the CyberPatriot national competition as well.

Cybersecurity II - Network Defense and Threat Management:
Gain the foundational knowledge you will use in the workplace as a Cybersecurity Technician. Each day billions of devices are connected to the network, and each one needs to be protected. Build the skills to secure your network all the way to the edge, including hardware, software, and media. In this course, you will learn how to assess the network, operating systems, and endpoints for vulnerabilities, and how to secure the network. You will also gain skills to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and availability in your network and your data.

Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking:

Students earn a digital badge for successfully completing this pathway to verify their knowledge. Then they can take the CCST Networking certification exam to earn an industry-recognized certification for your resume.

Coursework:

Networking I: IT Essentials
IT Essentials covers basic computer hardware and software support. Student work through Cisco Networking Academy's advanced simulation tools and multiple hands-on labs that hone troubleshooting skills. No prerequisites or computer knowledge are required. Students learn to install, configure, and troubleshoot computers and mobile devices as well as how to use Packet Tracer.

Networking II: Network Technician
Networking is at the heart of the digital transformation. This course explores key concepts for Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and basic network troubleshooting. Learn about the physical, data link, and network layers and how they work together to provide end-to-end connectivity. Understand how IP addresses are calculated and assigned. Then practice your troubleshooting skills to keep a network up and running.

Other Courses Available:

C++ Essentials:
As one of the most popular programming languages, C++ is hailed for its efficiency and its ease for developing games, real-time systems, and applications with graphical libraries. Take the course to learn the basics of programming in the C++ language, and the fundamental notions and techniques it uses.

JavaScript Essentials:
You likely use web-based and mobile applications every day. Watching an embedded video on your news app, using the search box on Amazon, or refreshing your Instagram feed. What is powering these applications? Learn how interactive web and mobile apps are created with JavaScript – and learn to program your own! JavaScript is a text-based programming language, and this course is a great place to start learning programming. No prior knowledge required.

Internet of Things (IoT) Fundamentals:
Nearly every object can now be connected to the Internet. The ability to connect things and capture useful data is transforming organizations in every industry and opening doors for new career specializations. Discover the basis of this exciting and emerging field using fun, hands-on activities with Arduino microcontrollers to model securely connecting sensors to cloud services over IP networks and collecting data in an end-to-end IoT (Internet of Things) system.
