GLOBAL EDUCATION

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION

Mount Everett Regional School is nestled in the bucolic Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, 2.5 hours between NYC and Boston. We offer a comprehensive education, focusing on the whole child, and encourage students to participate in all aspects of high school. Our district is a small, close-knit community of inspired faculty and staff, partnering with committed families, engaged students, and supportive neighbors.  We've created an environment for learning where students are known and understood, nurtured as creative thinkers, and challenged to think about and prepare for their futures.  We proudly represent the Southern Berkshire towns of Alford, Egremont, New Marlborough, Monterey, and Sheffield. Our neighbors and local businesses actively support our mission with their time, talents, and resources.

Mount Everett has partnered with Bard College at Simon’s Rock to become a designated Early College school. Students take college coursework and earn university credit while simultaneously meeting high school requirements. Early College courses are taught by Mount Everett and Simon’s Rock faculty. A variety of classes are offered each semester across disciplines including Humanities, Mathematics, Film, Literature, and Sciences. The program is completely free of charge. International students are welcome to participate!

Global Education Program Overview
Mount Everett’s Global Education program engages students in either independent or collaborative learning experiences. Every year, our goal is to provide an opportunity for each student to be included in an experience that will connect them to students around the world. Global Education at Mount Everett is organized into four core categories: The World Education Alliance, Short-Term Exchange, Long-Term Exchange, and Educational Travel. Connecting to a global network via exchange, immersed collaboration, or travel, will allow students to bridge the gap between the abstract and the tangible world within their reach. They will associate with peers from around the world with similar goals and interests, often leading a parallel lifestyle likely not incongruent as they might previously have imagined.

The World Education Alliance
The WEA is an organization that aims to promote the exchange of ideas in the fields of education and culture. It aims to share the excellence of cultural diversity and the benefits of sharing educational resources by collaboration with schools in different countries and regions. Through the WEA, we participate in symposiums with thematic programs designed and organized through round-table discussions. Recent symposiums include a dance mela in India, a music gala in Germany, water conservation in China, and a music and poetry symposium hosted here at Mount Everett with a culminating performance at the Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington.

Short-Term Exchange
Providing short-term exchange opportunities gives students a chance to share their cultural heritage, promote global understanding, foster cultural appreciation, and practice leadership through stewardship.

Long-Term Exchange
We are fortunate to live in an ideal setting both geographically and culturally, and invite students to apply for long-term study through the
Departments of Homeland Security’s  F-1 visa program.

Educational Travel
Every year Mount Everett provides a number of domestic and international travel opportunities. Our faculty diligently works to make connections between curriculum and experience. Coupled with in-depth research in individualized plans of study, the Global Education program gives students an edge in reaching the full potential of their understanding of their chosen research topic, as well as a better understanding of themselves in relation to the world around them. Students can earn credit pursuing a personally relevant body of knowledge.

Every facet of Mount Everett’s Global Education Program has the potential to instill a love of learning and traveling. Our hope is that all students will be exposed to an experience that will inform and enlighten them.
