Our district takes great pride in striking the delicate balance between providing comprehensive experiences for students that are normally the province of much large school systems while fostering the personal relationship- building, intimacy, and welcoming atmosphere of smaller districts. Fundamental to achieving such a balance are opportunities for students and staff to interact with one another outside of the regular classroom.
This section describes the many opportunities that are available at Southern Berkshire to meet this objective at both the elementary and secondary levels. Experiences range from artistic, athletic, civic, and service opportunities to meet the diverse range of talents and interests among our students. At the secondary level, 70% of our students normally avail themselves of these programs, which often extend the school day until well after dismissal time.
Participation of teaching faculty at the secondary level in these additional experiences is normally around 65%. The staff, students, and administration appreciate the support of these important programs from parents, citizens, taxpayers, and businesses in our community. They are an integral part of the positive school culture we all enjoy at Southern Berkshire Regional School District.
