Interact
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for students in grades 9-12. The Interact club encourages and fosters the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of youth united in the ideal of service. It enhances leadership skills and expands international understanding.
Mount Everett has had an organized Interact club since 2000 and currently has thirty active members. Throughout the school year, we organize a variety of projects and activities that are community and/or globally oriented. Some of our recent activities have included the annual Red Cross Blood Drive, working at the community sponsored "Breaking Bread" weekly dinners, and baking and sending hundreds of cookies overseas to the troops in Iraq. We have raised money for the homeless and orphans in Africa through community-based walk-a-thons, and in 2005 we helped to raise $10,000 for the victims of the tsunami. The students who participate in this club are motivated to help and serve others. The club's advisors are Brenda Ullrich and Scott Rote.
