Technology

The Southern Berkshire Regional School District has a long history of technological excellence. The District has been a leader in technology access, boasting a student to computer ratio of 2:1. Both students and staff have full access to the best tools of technology available anywhere. Many of these resources are web based and provide for a variety of educational opportunities for all stakeholders. The New Marlborough Central campus has the same access as the main campus in Sheffield, including a one to one laptop program.

High speed videoconferencing facilities are available throughout the district and afford our students and staff a rich and varied educational experience. Students have taken live video conference field trips to NASA and Vanderbilt University studying how a moon based colony works or working with scientists on artificial skin! These types of trips would otherwise not be available to our rural school.

Students in Grades 7-12 can take online courses from a host of providers including the Virtual High School (VHS) program. Our students have taken courses in Mandarin Chinese, AP Chemistry, Screenwriting and advanced courses in GIS science.

Our technology resources are available throughout the District, increasing our educational opportunities and outreach beyond the confines of the classroom.
