  • In Internet Explorer, click on your Tools Menu.
  • Go to Options.
  • Click the Privacy tab.
  • Take off Pop-up Blockers

  • Search engine toolbars, like Google Toolbar, also contain pop up blockers.  You will find a button on these to allow pop ups.

  • Virus protection programs may also contain pop-up blockers.  You can check by right clicking on your virus protection program icon in the bottom right of your screen.  Look for an option to allow pop-ups.

LOGGING IN:

  • Your child’s username will be in all lowercase
  • The password has been provided to you.
  • If you need this information again, please email: cthompso@tek2000.net

  • On a successful log in, the workspace screen will load.

WORKSPACE:

  • On the lower left of the screen, you may have to scroll down; you will find the My Courses Window.
  • Your child’s math class will be listed in that menu.
  • Click on the teachers Math Class.

COMPREHENSIVE MATHEMATICS ASSESSMENT SYSTEM WINDOW:

  • Everything you will be working from is contained in this window.
  • The ILP is the single piece of paper icon.  Click there.

INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLAN: ILP

COLORED BULB

The color bulb on the far left contains information about how many times your child has been tested on that particular skill.  Simply put your mouse over it for that information.

NUMBER LINK

The number is the test question number.  Click on this link to see the test question your child got wrong.  It is simply there for your review.  You cannot answer and re-submit the question.

RESOURCES & PRACTICE

Click on the large blue button to the right.  Another window opens in the center of your screen.

STUDY ICON

After your child has visited a website, a log is kept of his or her activity.  This can be viewed by clicking here.

*The ILP is for practice below your child’s current grade level

MORE ON RESOURCES & PRACTICE:

  • When you click on the blue Resources & Practice button, a window comes up with links to other sites on the internet.
  • Most cases the green chalkboard icon acts as the link.
  • Sometimes several links are so close in topic, they are in a bulleted list and the text is the link.  You’ll know this because the text is blue and underlined as all links are.

INDIVIDUAL COMPENTENCY PROFILE:

  • The competency Profile is a graphical representation of every math skill your child needs broken down by strand and grade level.
  • Mouse over each colored bulb for information about that standard.
  • Click on the bulb to be taken to resource and practice links, like the window above.

* In this window, your child can work at their grade level.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • THE WINDOWS KEY

OpenVes is programmed to always be on top of other windows you may have open.  Sometimes windows you are looking for are behind OpenVes.  In order to access them, simply use your Windows Key.  This key triggers your start menu and allows you to see all of your open windows and applications along your task bar.

This is especially important to check if a link is not opening up.  You may have left the previous window open and the link you want has opened in that window.

  • TABS

The Workspace tab at the top will always take you back to the first             screen you see when you log in.

  • RIGHT CLICK> BACK

You can always right click at anytime in any window to go back to the previous screen.

There is also an XL symbol on the top right of most pages that acts like a back button by double clicking on it.

  • THE AVATAR

The Avatar is not active for your current session.  The Avatar is available to your child only during testing.  She welcomes your child to the test and reads the questions if your child so desires.

  • RIGHT CLICK> PRINT

If you desire to print a screen, you can simply right click and select print from the context menu at any time.  Some screens open in a standard browser window, where you can select File>Print.

  • CONTROL KEY

If you desire not to turn off your pop-up blocker, you can simply hold down the CTRL Key when you click on links.  The control key will disable your pop-up blocker only for the time that it is held down.

  • DOWN LINKS

Occasionally you will find links to pages that no longer exist or have changed their web address.  We will monitor this as best we can.  If you come across a link that is not available, please move on to other links that are available.
