Jesse Carpenter, Athletics Director

Athletics Programs at Southern Berkshire

The Mount Everett Athletic Department is guided by four core values: sportsmanship, character, integrity, and dedication. We are gracious competitors, regardless of the final score; we strive to exhibit this grace under pressure and in the face of adversity; we show respect for ourselves, our teammates, and our opponents; we hold honesty in high regard, following the rules of each sport, and striving to act in ethical ways that are consistent with the spirit of the games we play. Our student athletes embrace the level of commitment necessary to achieve their team and individual goals on the athletic fields and in the classrooms. It is our belief that if these values are upheld in practice, in competition, and in academic life, our student athletes will be well-prepared to excel in future endeavors, and lead in their communities and beyond.

We offer a variety of athletic opportunities for students in grades 7-12. In the fall, students can choose to participate in boys and girls soccer, golf, cross country, or girls volleyball. In the winter, our offerings include hockey, wrestling, boys and girls basketball, and cheerleading. In the spring, students can choose between baseball, softball, and tennis. We also co-op with local high schools in a football program, as well as hosting a hockey co-op with three local high schools.

Our dedicated and talented group of coaches strive to uphold all these values. Teamwork and cooperation are the hallmarks of our endeavor. The coaching staff values well-roundedness in student athletes, pushing competitors to participate in multiple sports rather than specializing in just one. We believe that achieving balance in a student athlete's life aids in the attainment of academic excellence.

Many of our dedicated coaches have strong ties to the community and to the school as former student athletes of Mount Everett. Alums now coaching include: Chuck Higgins ('64, cross country and baseball assistant), Scott Rote ('79, girls basketball), David Lupiani ('87, wrestling), Dan Lanoue ('91, assistant wrestling and JV baseball), Jesse Carpenter ('92, boys soccer and baseball), and Josh King ('00, boys basketball, boys JV soccer, and assistant baseball).
