U.M.E. Youth Athletic Board

Meeting Started at 6:15 pm

Meeting started with Sam Herrick discussing girls youth basketball. Sam is the 5/6 girls travel team head coach. Sam brought 2 basketball exhibits with him. One was a Berkshire county league 2nd place trophy the girls had won this season. Sam and Jamie Higgins were there to try to help get more involvement with our sports programs. Fred Shaw, Sam Herrick and Jamie Higgins are going to try to run some summer programs for the youth basketball programs. Fred Shaw will definitely be running a Saturday morning clinic for the girls in grades 5th-8th. There was a lot of discussion about trying to get more people involved and how to raise number of children that participate. There was also discussion about the in-house basketball programs and maybe combing with another program.
Discussion concerning someone to run the youth softball program. We are looking for someone who will actually oversee youth softball, basketball and soccer that takes place on the Mount Everett Campus. The youth board agreed to look for someone and the cost would be approximately $1500.00 per sport which would be a total of $4500.00. Softball is all set to pay the first $1500.00 starting ASAP as soon as someone can take the position. We would like it to be someone from the school.
Further discussion from the people in attendance regarding ways of how to get more involvement, having assemblies, doing fundraisers.
Carol Shaw will send out the letters to the softball sponsors. Glenn and Jesse will work on the details for getting someone to run the program.
