SUMMER & FALL 08

Staff Robotics Training: (20 PDP's)
Bring the excitement and challenge of Lego Robotics to your Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) lessons.  During this week, teachers will learn the basics of building and programming Lego robots.  Teachers will take 1 current STEM lesson and adapt that lesson to incorporate robotics technology. Lego Robotics is fun and easy to use, yet challenges students to think both creatively and analytically.

Teaching and Learning with Technology: (3 Graduate Credits from MCLA)
This fall I will be offering a 3 credit graduate course titled: Teaching and Learning with Technology. The graduate credits will be issued through MCLA. Graduate credit fees for next school year are not final, but you can expect the fees to approach $250 per credit.

In this course, teachers will explore the concepts of 21st century skills and its implications for modern education. In addition, teachers will learn a variety of online tools and be introduced to pedagogical strategies for technology integration. The class culminates with each teacher redeveloping several lesson plans to incorporate some of these new technologies.

21st Century Tools for Learning: (20 PDP's)
This is a workshop style course like the one listed above.  The content of this class is entirely up to you.  Teachers will be asked to work with an existing lesson plan and adapt that lesson for any technology tool they wish.  The idea is not to add to your plate, but to enhance what is already on it.
