Olympic Games – Final Task

Your final task is to compare and contrast one aspect of the ancient Olympics with the modern Olympics. You may do this in one of several ways. Read the list of ideas that follows and CHOOSE ONE to complete.

· Create 2 separate Venn diagrams. Compare/contrast 2 of your favorite sporting events. Be sure to show such things as the rules, the playing field, the equipment, and the duration of play.

· Draw a picture that clearly shows the equipment used in at least 2 of the ancient/modern Olympic sports.

· Give an oral report about one of the sports. Include a discussion of the rules, the equipment, and a story about an athlete who participated in the sport.

· Choose one sport which was included in both the ancient and the modern Olympics. Write a critical compare/contrast essay. Be sure to discuss such things as the rules, the playing field, the equipment, and the duration of play.

· Write a biography of one of the ancient Olympians about whom you have recently read.

· Create a diorama or other 3-dimensional representation of one of the ancient Olympic sports. Include the playing field, the participants, and any equipment used. Clearly label all parts.
