EAGLE
FEATHERS
The Madrigal Feast
brought together 275 guests to the SBRSD Castle. The lobby and gym were transformed
into a magical kingdom, creating the perfect environment for the instrumental
music, songs, dances, May Pole Dance, juggling, and the student-written and
directed play. The details of the
feast were researched by the
students, and the cafeteria manager
and Culinary Arts Teacher followed the research to the letter. A large number of people
volunteered their time and expertise. Thanks to all of them, the vision
of Nancy Loder that became a reality last year was perfected this year. This week’s Eagle Feathers are given to
Alice Maggio and Mandy O'Connor, and Co. for their leadership, skills, talents,
and commitment to the Madrigal Feast.
Updates...
·
The
Town Meetings have been completed, and the SBRSD budget was passed by all five
towns. The Towns of Alford and
Egremont also passed separate articles to donate funds to the Eagle Fund. I want to thank the citizens of the five
towns for their support, as well as the member town selectmen/women, town
administrator, and the finance committee members.
·
The
work of the School Committee has been outstanding throughout the year, but
especially noteworthy during the months of work spent on the budget. The communication between the District
and the Towns was most effective and helpful. It was also important to know that along
with the support you provide your towns, you were equally fair in your role as
an advocate for the students of the District. You did a terrific job; thank
you.
·
STAFF APPRECIATION DAY! New Marlborough Central was recognized
May 8th with a cook out specially prepared for the staff by John Tranfaglia and
Principal Thomas Nadolny. The Staff
at Undermountain and Mt. Everett will celebrate on May 12th with a cookout and
luncheon in the Eagles Loft. The
staffs at the Egremont and Monterey Schools will be receiving a special treat
designed especially for them. Thank
you staff for the continued commitment to excellence.
·
2005 SBRSD Technology Improvement
Plan has met the criteria set by the MA DOE. The District has made great strides
thanks to Paul O’Brien. The
Department is better able to support the teachers and staff as they are required
to use technology for instruction as well as data keeping and filing reports
directly with the state.
Congratulations and Thank You.
·
Five Star being sent out monthly
and receiving excellent reviews.
The feedback has been that the new format is more reader friendly and
that the articles are telling a better story about what works in the
District. Thanks to Charley
Coughlin and Bob Law for working with the Superintendent on these
changes.
·
Congratulations to Rick Blackburn
and the band students for a very successful trip to Virginia Beach. Sam Crawford was recognized as the best
solo performer our of the thousands of students gathered for this annual
national competition. Mr. Blackburn
and Sam will join us at the next meeting to give an
update.
