School
Committee Members you are invited to attend a joint faculty and staff meeting
at 3:00 pm on April
12th in the TAC-PAC. I will be
joined by Mike Farmer who will be making a presentation regarding data on
declining enrollment. This is a
serious issue and one that needs to be well understood as we take
action.
·
Congratulations
to the students who participated in the production of Alter Egos. This was a comedy and the students
stepped out of their usual roles to deliver a hilarious performance for the
community.
·
The
Title I Coordinated Program Review will be conducted April 12th. This is a change in previous
scheduling. Principal Tom Nadolny
has prepared for the visit, which has been coordinated by Principal Glenn
Devoti.
·
The
Full Coordinated Program Review is scheduled for seven days beginning with April
24th and ending with May 2nd. The
programs to be audited are Special Education, Vocational Education, Civil
Rights, and ESL. Principal Glenn
Devoti conducted an orientation for the faculty on April 6th and was accompanied
by Adele Sands who presented the Special Education component, John Martin who
presented Civil Rights, and Tom Nadolny who presented Title I.
·
During
the half day in-service on April 6th the faculty, following the CPR overview,
rotated through three workshops required by law. The three workshops were presented by
faculty members and covered Professional Development, Restraint Laws, and
Universal Precautions.

Welcome
to Chris Regan, SBRSD new Business Administrator. Chris has moved into the office
Maryellen Brown previously occupied, and can be reached at extension 303. Chris has met with the members of the
Administrators Team, Food Service, and Custodial Services.
·
A
special word of appreciation to the SBRSD faculty and staff members who are
EMTs. About a week ago a student
needed special medical attention, and the team of school nurse, Zoe Nelson,
Scott Farrell, and Dan Weston made a difference. They worked together as a well trained
team and never loss sight of what had to be done for the student. I am very proud of the expertise and
dedication shown during this emergency.
·
The
RFP has been written and sent out for bids on the long and short strategic plans
for the SBRSD facilities. The
Superintendent will send forward the bids to the SC sub-committee on Building
& Grounds.
·
The
Theater and Arts faculty will be coming together to share ideas about improving
the scheduling, planning, and program definition at a meeting to be held with
parents and students on May 10th.
This is an exciting opportunity to come together and begin to define the
needs of the students and collectively decide how to meet those needs. This is an exciting meeting and School
Committee Members are welcome to attend.
·
Thanks
you School Committee Members for your flexibility regarding the canceling of the
April 13th meeting to respect Passover.
